After the election, we all had to watch the Republican party climb into the bathtub. They then began sawing at their wrists with a rusty butter knife ensuring a slow painful death. I am glad they finally got the help they needed, and are now joining us conservatives in standing against the redistribution of wealth in the Obama stimulus package. Its like they all woke up the other day and went, "Hey, we really shouldn't be voting for this. It doesn't really go along with the principles of the people who voted us into office." No shit. Thank God they grew some backbone.
Yes, the bill passed, and it is now headed to the Senate, but the ramifications of the vote may place the Republicans back in the drivers seat by the mid-term elections and possibly provide the basis for a Presidential victory in 2012. Yep, it was that important. Nancy Pelosi made sure that the Republicans were not allowed to author one single piece of the bill. The whole thing has been dubbed "The Obama Stimulus Package" by the media. His name is now forever attached to it. The Republicans in the House did exactly what they needed to do. They voted no, and gave the Socialist bastards enough rope to hang themselves with!
When this stimulus package fails, and it will fail, there will be no doubt where the policy came from. Without bi-partisan support the American people will have no one to blame but the people who authored it and voted for it. In fact, the bi-partisan effort was solely on the side of the opposition! Eleven Democrats voted no, but not one single Republican voted yes. That should tell you something right there. Lets hope that the lemmings and sheeple aren't so easily swayed by the media the next time we go to the ballot box.
Senate Republicans now have a huge weight on their shoulders. Do they stand with House Republicans in defiance of this bill, or do they kowtow and bend over for the majority? Regardless of where they stand, this bill will become law. But there are a lot of people out there who will remember this come election time.
This could turn out to be a pivotal moment for American politics. With decisions like these being made so early on in the 111th Congress and the Obama Presidency, there will be ample time to prove that Keynesian economics just plain doesn't work. They spent and regulated our way into this mess. More spending and regulation wont get us out. Ive heard the definition of insanity described as continually doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. How apropos!
We might see the 111th go the way of the 103rd Congress, and Barry Obama go the way of Jimmy Carter. Bring on the New Reagan! The question is, how much FDR style damage can they do between now and then? Lets keep our fingers crossed.
