School Shaves Head Of Boy With Mohawk
This is the most intrusive, abusive, and violating story I have heard in a long time! A six year old boy in Barlett, Kansas had his head shaved by a teacher because he came to school with a short cropped Mohawk. The boy had been sent home the previous day, and his parents trimmed his hair to look like a high and tight military cut. The next day the principal had a teacher shave the child’s head. If that had been my boy, I would be handing out ass whoopin’s up and down the halls in that school!
Courts have ruled that, in the public education system, children loose some of their rights when they step onto school property. The only two other institutions that do this are the military and the prison system. This all operates on the premise that the government owns you. Can someone say police state? This is one more reason to choose private schools for your children. Choose schools where you have a say in policy and curriculum. Better yet, home school your children and avoid the entire system altogether. I understand the need to keep students from causing distractions, but this goes too far. The parents of this child should not back down.

That isn't quite true. Children do not loose all their rights. Some of their rights are held to a lower standard because of the sensitive nature of schools and the need for safety. EX, the proof required to conduct a search is lower then normal. School Administrators or whatever can not however conduct strip searches because 20 dollars is missing or whatever. Basically 4A is somewhat downgraded for students in the educational setting.
Duly noted. I don't know why I wrote "all rights." I didn't mean that. I'm changing it.
That being said, prisoners and servicemen do not loose all their rights either, they are just severely restricted. The point I was getting at is this: Why would we subject our children to the same kind of restrictions? A child's rights should only be restricted by their parents. The school and especially the government shouldn't be doing it.
