I was shocked awhile ago to read an article (I think it was by Michael Cannon, but I'm not sure) that Medicare has threatened to deny all coverage to elderly people who want to pay out of pocket for precedures that Medicare doesn't cover. Apparently with Medicare, it's their way or the highway.
